Main Purpose of the Role: Abbey Animal Health is seeking a commercially driven and strategic Business Unit Manager – Vet and Intensive to lead the development and performance of our Vet and Intensive business segment. This key leadership role is responsible for driving sales growth, executing strategic plans, and managing the Vet sales team to ensure alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, proven leadership in the Animal Health industry (preferably with exposure to veterinary and intensive sectors), and a demonstrated ability to grow sales channels and customer networks. Regular travel will be required to maintain strong field presence and relationships with key accounts. The Business Unit Manager – Vet and Intensive will directly lead and support the Vet sales team while working closely with senior management, marketing, and other business units to deliver results.
The candidate should be based out of Victoria or willing to relocate to Victoria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic business plan for the Vet and Intensive division, including clear sales, marketing, and growth objectives.
- Lead, coach, and manage the Vet sales team and marketing lead to achieve individual and team KPIs.
- Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities and market gaps within the Vet and Intensive sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Veterinarians, Intensive Livestock Producers, Key Accounts, Distributors, and Industry Stakeholders.
- Lead the marketing resource to plan and execute product launches and targeted marketing campaigns.
- Represent Abbey Animal Health at industry events, conferences, and key customer engagements across the veterinary and livestock sectors.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer feedback to inform strategy and adapt plans proactively.
- Manage division sales forecasts, budgets, and reporting metrics, ensuring timely communication with senior management.
- Drive collaboration across departments to ensure operational alignment and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver regular performance reports and business insights to the senior management
Requirements
Tertiary Qualifications & Industry Accreditations:
- Degree in Veterinary Science (preferred); alternatively, tertiary qualifications in Animal Science, Agriculture, Business, or a related discipline.
- Current or prior registration as a Veterinarian is highly regarded.
- Ongoing professional development in sales, leadership, or agribusiness is desirable
Knowledge and Experience:
- Proven sales and business development experience in the Animal Health industry, preferably with a focus on Vet products or services.
- Strong understanding of the Vet market landscape, including customer segments, competitors, products, and distribution networks.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a sales, marketing, or business management role.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong collaborative relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams or customers.
