Western Sydney University is seeking an experienced Animal Welfare Officer to join the Research Services Team.
The Animal Welfare Officer’s primary responsibility is to ensure the welfare of animals used in research and teaching by staff and students at the University. The successful applicant in this role will provide contemporary and up-to-date technical advice and training to researchers, students and staff in medical and surgical techniques and through close liaison with the Animal Ethics Committee, leadership in the maintenance of standards of animal care and use across the University. In addition, the Animal Welfare Officer will provide professional veterinary advice to researchers and students.
The successful applicant will be required to build relationships within the office, the broader University and across the sector. In this role you will be required to travel to the facilities across a number of campuses for meeting and inspections. Western Sydney University is investing significantly into developing our research profile and this role will be a key position in shifting the culture towards a greater level of research intensity.
This is a part-time (17.5 hours negotiable), ongoing position based at the Penrith campus.
Remuneration Package: HEW Level 8 (pro-rata rates) $58,092 to $64,489 p.a. (comprising Salary of $49,088 to $54,494 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
