NSVH was built in 1935 and is the longest standing Veterinary hospital on the North Shore of Sydney. In 2019 we moved to a brand-new state of the art, purpose-built facility. We are a 24/7, 365 day a year facility with specialists in

  • critical care
  • internal medicine
  • surgery
  • diagnostic imaging
  • ophthalmology
  • dermatology
  • dentistry
  • exotics
  • a bustling and supportive emergency department
  • a progressive general practice

We have

  • full in-house laboratory facilities
  • comprehensive diagnostic imaging
  • 2 ultrasound rooms
  • digital X-ray
  • 128 Slice GE CT scanner
  • 1.5T MRI.

Our interns commonly stay on beyond their one-year program which is a sign of their enjoyment in their year. You will form a close clinical relationship with the GP and out of hours emergency vets.

Located in the North Shore of Sydney we are the perfect base for beaches, sun and decent coffee.

The Opportunity

NSVSC is looking for an enthusiastic veterinarian with at least one year of experience to join our internal medicine team for a 12-month internship. This is a great opportunity for motivated veterinarians with an interest in pursuing further training or who intend to sit memberships. You will receive regular didactic teaching in the form of specialist led lectures and tutorials, regular CPR training, participate in journal club and case presentations.

This role is full-time with 1 in 3 weekends and occasional public holidays as we are a 24/7 hospital – but with days off either side to make up for weekend days worked. The position includes four weeks annual leave and one-week conference leave and a generous study allowance.

Candidates must be eligible for veterinary registration in NSW. The ideal applicant will be motivated and always willing to learn and grow. Our aim is for you to keep as much out of the internship as possible. Good communication skills are essential. Above all else we value someone who is a team player; committed to our patients and is keen to be a part of our specialist team.

The Benefits

  • You will be rewarded with an above award salary and benefits that are reflective of the experience you bring to the position.
  • Continuous clinical training! Our purpose-built training facilities offer free ongoing professional training for our team members. The trainings are great for networking as several local practices attend the sessions together with our team.
  • Conference leave and continuing education allowance.
  • Excellent work life balance
  • Work with a team of like-minded and passionate people
